A Great Heritage

Just earlier this month we were blessed to be a part of a family reunion entailing Tanya's side of the family, the Guesses. Not only were we able to reconnect with familiar faces, and get caught up with grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins, but we were privileged to be reminded of the past of our ancestors who have gone on before us and left a legacy that should not be forgotten.   "Bossie" and Eunice Guess were married later in life, neither of them had ever been married before, and shortly after their marriage asked the Lord that He would give them as many children as fast as He could. Soon after, He blessed them with five children in six years. The family had a sweet relationship growing up together and plenty of fun memories made. They were solid Christians and wanted to pass the faith to the next generation, of which they did a good job. Having been married for twenty years, the Lord saw fit that it was time for Eunice to come home. She passed away at...

What's "Normal"?

Image
Well, school has started back with everyone now and we are back to a "normal" schedule for the first time since the end of this past May. We have been almost a week into seeing Papa off to work in the mornings with a small sing time and Bible reading with everyone who can read, and we are thoroughly enjoying the feeling of being on a consistent and predictable schedule at least for the time being. She has become our family's "kitchen queen". She likes it and the rest of us are very thankful for all the hard work she puts into it!  J...

Making Memories Together

The past two weeks we have had the opportunity of making an eternal investment in the life of a young lady who stayed with us while her mother was away. Even though the time together was not bump-free, and we did hit some hurdles along the way, the majority of the time spent together was a learning experience full of adventure, excitement, and we did have quite a bit of fun, too :) One of the analogies that really stuck out to our family was that of the glow stick: Only when it is broken on the inside can it really start to glow. But, even then, we cannot adequately glow with the light of Christ unless we have immersed ourselves in His light by spending time with Him and taking in His Word. Each and every one of us have been stretched, we have been tested and purged, we have been drawn closer together as a family unit, and the journey is not over. The Lord has a plan for each of our lives, and He is using life experiences right now to prepare us for the purpose He has for us in the ...
