Birthday in the Air

Elisabeth turned the big age of 18...

...And it worked out for most of our family to take some airplane rides with some friends of ours around our area! Here are some pics of Elisabeth's birthday :)

We all divided into groups of three, and Laura, Caleb and Joseph were the first group to go and the boys were good passengers to go with Laura because she specifically asked for a turbulent ride! She got it, and Mr. "Bee" also let her create some herself! They all came back with some different feelings than when they went in, I should say, a little more knowledgeable about what turbulence in a little plane is like (no one got sick, they just had stories!)

Anna, Christina and Joshua were shift number two, and we let Joshua have co-pilot seat :) He thoroughly enjoyed that! We also had QUITE THE RIDE! Joshua is not afraid of testing the limits of an airplane (Good thing we had a certified pilot instructor in there beside him!) and we got twists and turns, climbs and dives, roller coasters and floats, if we girls hadn't had our seat belts on, we probably would still have our heads stuck up in the sky! But, other than Christina almost loosing it, we had an absolute blast! Thanks Mr. "Bee"…and Joshua…for the VERY fun ride! ;)

All checks done and ready for takeoff!

Elisabeth, Charity, and Carolyn were the third group to reach the skies. We, (yes, this is a third-group crew member now speaking) specially requested a "nice ride" as we tend to be the more motion-sensitive folk. Boring??? NOT AT ALL! The natural turbulence spiced it up very nicely allowing us to ENJOY the ride as well as the great view from the air. :) We DID have our share of "extra excitement" when "one member" took the yoke and turned too sharp too long and gave us a REALLY GOOD view of the ground. =D
This was Carolyn's first flight. She wasn't too sure what to think at first, but by the end…well, she had a pleasant expression. I think she enjoyed it! :)

Papa, Josiah and Sarah were the fourth group to go, and Josiah had left seat with Mr. "Bee" as his instructor! It was a neat experience for Papa and Sarah to be able to tag along on a casual flight with Josiah being the Pilot in training! They had a fun ride with plenty of maneuvers! Mama and Joanna, along with Daniel had to stay home due to Joanna having a touch of the stomach bug, so to include them, they flew over our house and did some circles with Mama watching Josiah fly from our driveway! They took a tour of OKC, and Papa (the camera man) got some good shots of down town and the surrounding area. Josiah landed safely and proved to be a very good pilot!

After all the flights, we 5 older girls went to help Mrs. "Bee" get lunch ready while the guys put the plane away.

When they got to the house we already had everything set up and ready to go! It was a delicious and much-looked-forward-to hotdog cookout! We ate 'till we were satisfied, and then Mr. "Bee" left to give another ride to a couple as a celebration for the husband's birthday, so we got to go into the "Bee's" back yard and wave at them when they flew by :) After that we went to the lake in the back of their house and had a blast watching a whole bunch of geese come in for the evening.

It was such a fun day! Thank you, Mr. & Mrs. "Bee" for your wonderful hospitality, and extremely fun day flying in the air! Y'all are awesome! :)

and so shall we ever be with the Lord."

    1. Thanks, Maggie! It was a blast! And I do believe that's what adventurous little brothers are for… I don't see myself jumping out of a flying object any time soon. =D
