A Sneak Preview...

By Anna

So here we are just now getting these together :). The night of the rehearsal was a lot of fun, though rather busy! But we are so thankful for all the helping hands that volunteered and the support of family and dear friends who were available to participate!

The five of us girls sang while the groomsmen arrived in their place, then we headed to the back to enter as bridesmaids.

At the Rehearsal Dinner we were aided by dear friends who helped pull everything together and serve a family favorite of  good ol' taco salad! Then we had another dear family who made homemade cobblers sided with ice cream for dessert ~ it was delicious!

After we had gotten done eating, we had an informal program of selected songs, testimonies, charges, memories, and last words before the big day. Christina and I started it off with a written out discourse of several conversations that Elisabeth and I had had throughout our friendship relationship up to date. It was a fun blessing :)

Elisabeth had a surprise prepared for Nathan as a special in song that Grandpapa had written when Mama was young entitled, "Somewhere There's Someone". It was a sweet time that spoke right to the moment they had come to in their relationship as they were getting ready to launch into the next season of life as husband and wife. Josiah did a great job accompanying her on the piano.

Papa and Mama also presented a love song titled, "The One God Made for Me" that had meant a lot in their relationship, and now they were seeing their Daughter and soon-to-be son-in-love come together as the ones God had made for each other. It was special.

Then we had several, including friends and family members that are not pictured here who gave a word of testimony of how they had seen God working in the lives of these two special young people

It was a blessed time of encouragement, inspiration, memories, laughter, tears, and looking forward to what God has in store for this new couple as they continue seeking the Lord together.

Then our family closed with the song, "A Christian Home" that has been a prayer of our hearts as a family, and now our prayer for Nathan and Elisabeth as they begin a family of their own.

O give us homes built firm upon the Savior,
Where Christ is Head, and Counsellor and Guide;
Where ev'ry child is taught His love and favor
And gives his heart to Christ, the crucified:
How sweet to know that tho' his footsteps waver
His faithful Lord is walking by his side!

O give us homes with godly fathers, mothers,
Who always place their hope and trust in Him;
Whose tender patience turmoil never bothers,
Whose calm and courage trouble cannot dim;
A home where each finds joy in serving others,
And love still shines, tho' days be dark and grim.

O give us homes where Christ is Lord and Master,
The Bible read, the precious hymns still sung;
Where prayer comes first in peace or in disaster,
And praise is natural speech to ev'ry tongue;
Where mountains move before a faith that's vaster,
And Christ sufficient is for old and young.

O Lord, our God, our homes are Thine forever!
We trust to Thee their problems, toil, and care;
Their bonds of love no enemy can sever
If Thou art always Lord and Master there:
Be Thou the center of our least endeavor:
Be Thou our Guest, our hearts and homes to share.

  1. What a wonderful, exciting time for all of you. Congratulations to the happy couple. Hope you'll post some wedding day photos when you get a chance. It looked like it was going to be a beautiful and God honoring wedding.
    A Christian Home has always been my favorite hymn. When our family moved to another state several years ago, our sweet pastor had the congregation sing that song to our family as a parting gift. I always think of that when I hear that beautiful and meaningful song.
