Family Fun in February

Posted by Anna

We were told that some of the temperatures that came our way within the last few weeks were record breaking temperatures in the history of OKC, and just for your northerners up there who are looking on, 23*F during the day and 7*F at night is COLD!!! But, in spite of the possibility of us turning into ice-cycles, we managed to stay warm enough to have some fun :) Here are a few selections of some candid shots taken around here and there.
Again, as stated before, most of the pics have narration. Just put your computer icon on the pic to read.

"Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow?
or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail?"
Job 38:22

Above Left: As Josiah plays the piano, sometimes a younger sibling or two will climb into his lap and sing along, or attempt to play along. Sarah, moments before this picture was taken, was enjoying her personal accompanist as she sang whole heartedly to Josiah's arrangement of a hymn.

Above Right: Sometimes Papa, when he gets home from work, will call for a game hour before He heads off to pick Josiah from work. Connect 4 is a popular one and has become a favorite, except when "Push-out Connect 4" is brought out and Laura is the opponent. Then you may as well lean in as only a spectator :) Then when evening duties call for the older ones to dismiss, the younger ones take advantage of the left out pieces and try their hand at making the games work :) Carolyn, here, is enjoying the opportunity of having it all to herself for a few moments

"How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings."
Psalm 36:7

After receiving a text from our aunt, who is a public school PE teacher, indicating that their school was out due to the snow, Elisabeth stated in a rather inquisitive manner: "How come public schools close on cold snowy day, while a homeschool mom says, 'Perfect! We can do school!'?"

"… Study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands…"
1 Thessalonians 4:11

Here's our beloved Mother! You notice how proficient she is? Feeding a little one who does not like the process of learning to eat real food, keeping a tot entertained and close by her side, and teaching several different grades and subjects..all at the same time! We children rise up and call her talented! Her husband also, and he praiseth her!

"Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
2 Timothy 2:15

After school, our afternoons are full of adventure. We thrive on having a plan or two, but Mama has taught us all to "always be ready and prepared to be flexible" and with a family this big, that is one good quality to be good at! But then we do have blessings of days when we are able to enjoy a little down time every now and then...

"Behold that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labor that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it is his portion."
Ecclesiastes 5:18

Hope you all have a good week! Feel free to comment! We like feedback :)

Until next time...

"Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses."
1 Timothy 6:12
