Trail Ridge Road

By Anna & Elisabeth

Rocky Mountain National Park was a huge highlight and a wonderful finale for the whole trip!

We drove in under clear skies...
...Watched the clouds roll in over the mountains...
And had the sheer thrill of driving through rain and hail
as we toured the highest through highway in the world!

It was breathtaking and absolutely beautiful!!!
This is definitely another place you MUST see for yourself!

At the place where trees can no longer survive and you must look down to see mountains,
we stopped for a good family picture.

This unique overlook on the tundra gained a new name as Joseph exclaimed,
"This is Rocky Mountain Plateau Point!"
(Plateau Point is where two of the boys hiked down to in the Grand Canyon)

It was pretty cold up there, so at the top of the mountains, surrounded by tundra
we treated ourselves to hot chocolate in July!

Papa and Mama claimed this beautiful aspect of the trip as part of their anniversary, as well!

Some of the wildlife we saw was elk (plenty of them!), moose, and marmots.

We had anticipated camping in the Rocky Mountains, but due to the cold and rains, we stayed in a pleasant lodge. It was a nice alternative and everyone enjoyed just relaxing together...warm and dry!

"Thy righteousness is like the great mountains;
thy judgments are a great deep:
O Lord, thou preservest man and beast.
How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God!
therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings."
~ Psalm 36:6-7 ~
